Ficus elastica Tineke

The Ficus elastica can be another #paintedleaftribe mascot. With its lovely, pink-tinged variegation, I am almost convinced that little elves keep this plant painted during the night. It is definitely one that keeps me in awe at nature's wonders. These plants are fairly easy to maintain, once you follow the water and light requirements below. Also, avoid placing these plants in drafty areas.

These plants can get big. In their natural habitat, they can grow to over 100 feet! That won't happen indoor for obvious reasons (ceilings), but they eventually be one of the bigger houseplants you own. 

These are toxic to pets, so be careful with your furry friends. The sap can also be toxic to humans if in contact with mucous membranes. When pruning the plant, make sure that you wash your hands after and do not touch your eyes and mouth.
