Calathea rufibarba
Raise your hand if you like furry/fuzzy plants! The Calathea rufibarba has the awesomeness of a Calathea (you gotta admit, calatheas are beautiful!) with the added benefit of fuzz. Don't have a pet at home? no worries, you can pet your Calathea rufibarba (but also note, these are pet safe, so go ahead and get a pet). In addition to their fuzzy leaves, take a look at the undersides. They are a deep maroon colour, which gives the plant an extra beautiful asset.
Like prayer plants (maranta), these plants also move their leaves in a praying hands method throughout the day. It is awesome to see their leaves in different positions in the morning and at night! These plants can be difficult to get the hang of, so be sure to read the water and light requirements in the other tabs!
Pet lovers will be happy to know that these plants are non-toxic. But please don't let cute little Caillou nibble these beautiful leaves!
Note: Plants are unique! The plant pictured is meant to give you an idea of the specification and quality of the plant you will receive, but will not be an exact replica.

Light Requirements
Light Requirements
Low to Medium
People with lower light settings will be happy to know that this plant prefers lower light settings. Direct light is a no-no, medium light is best, but they also do well in lower light. In its natural habitat, this plant is often shaded by taller plants/trees.
Water Requirements
Water Requirements
Moderate
Calathea plants like to be consistently moist (not wet!). If the plant dries out too much, then it can result in pests. I like to give these plants a bit of water frequently, as opposed to drenching them and allowing them to dry out. Important: These plants tend to be sensitive to water with chemicals and minerals. Tap water may cause these plants to get brown tips. If possible, water your plant with rain water, filtered water or water that has been standing for at least 24 hours. It is also important to water them with room temperature water. Try not to get water on their leaves as this can result in fungal issues. Note: Be sure not to let the plant sit in pooled water as that can cause root rot.
Jolie plante avec de jolie couleurs et belle texture en duvet :) merci je l'adore
Thank you The Painted Leaf! Once again you have provided me with such wonderful service as well as another gorgeous, healthy plant. It's leaves are so velvety with a striking green and deep burgundy. It makes a statement on it's own! I'll let it's picture say the rest 😀
We love those velvety leaves! Thanks so much for your feedback Kathleen! Much appreciated. :)
