The Alocasia plumbae "Flying Squid" is different from the Alocasias we are afamiliar with. Long, thin stems and leaves that resemble the tentacles of squids, including the suckers at the end gives this unique plant its name (I urge you to Google the squid anatomy to get a clear picture of how similar it looks!). Its maximum height of 1 foot makes it an ideal fit for small spaces, while its thin leaves add a unique texture to any room.

Like most Alocasia species, this one has specific care requirements that you can read about in the following tabs.

These are toxic to pets, so be careful with your furry friends.

Note: Plants are unique! The plant pictured is meant to give you an idea of the specification and quality of the plant you will receive, but will not be an exact replica.

Light Requirements

Bright

This plant thrives in bright indirect light, but multiple hours of direct sun may burn its leaves. Alocasias do not tolerate lower light conditions well, so you may need to supplement your natural light with a grow light.

Water Requirements

Low to Moderate

Like most Alocasias, this plant likes to dry out slightly between waterings. If the top of the soil looks dry, make sure you check beneath the surface before watering, as Alocasia do not like too much water. However, this plant likes higher humidity than the average houseplant. If you have a humidifier, put the plant as close as possible. Note: Be sure not to let the plant sit in pooled water as that can cause root rot.
